What drove the Web 2.0?
Web 2.0 is synonymous with collaboration, content and information accessible, affordable and easy search.
But what all this has enabled collaborative environment? The first company / word that comes to mind is Google . It was they who kicked off this new way of thinking and acting on the Internet. However, this revolution is not unique to Google.
Thinking about it, I'll try to put on a list that is more synonymous with Web 2.0:
- Wikipedia. Wikipedia has enabled a collaborative environment where any human being could contribute to knowledge in a single "database". It is an encyclopedia in which the reader can help. Each reader is a reader-editor. The correction of erroneous information is rapid, almost instantaneous. The information is processed at a speed never seen before. Wikipedia launched the Wiki concept, where collaboration is total. All create, edit, review and report.
- Blogosphere. The blogs have turned every citizen of the world in pseudojornalista. Anyone who has information can publish to the world. And readers can comment, suggest changes, and finally each is connected at the other news. Major names in blog WordPress , MovableType , Blogger .
- Applications online. With the increasing use of "technology" AJAX, which is nothing more than the simple use of javascript sending asynchronous requests to some server and receiving responses in a manner pleasing to the user, the possibilities of the Internet have increased. Word and Excel are no longer necessary for anyone who wants to write a document or a spreadsheet. The Google Docs can do these tasks without installing anything on your computer, except a browser.
- Feeds. These simple XML could make the information accessible and easy handling. XML is based on course content and extremely organized. This was a huge advance for the information / content / news / article transformed into a single file, however, very informative value. Feed readers can be found on the web, such as Bloglines , Google Reader .
- Semantics and tableless. The concern in making web pages are accessible by all, by any device, meant that the sites separated content from presentation. Thus the correct use of CSS has spread and now differentiates a professional from an amateur in web development.
- Diggs. The collaboration reached a point in which the users assess the contents. With so much information, the best way out is with the opinion of those who read it. It appeared, therefore, the evaluation of the news. Thus, one can have one order of relevance upon Information. The name here is Digg .
- Bookmarks collaborative. And this was the great precursor del.icio.us . Sites that are interesting to you may be interesting to your friends. Thus arose the collaborative bookmarks. Anyone can see your bookmarks and you also have the ability to access them from anywhere you have an internet connection.
The collaboration helps in evolution, so the tendency is that Web 3.0, 4.0, 5.0, reaching an even more speed and bringing new concepts and ideas even more revolutionary.
Some say that Web 3.0 will be a collaborative environment where avatars will be a Second Life . What do you think? Let's wait and check ...
