Comparison of GMail, Yahoo Mail and Windows Live Hotmail

The three most used webmail in the world today is Gmail, Yahoo Mail and Hotmail.

I just read a brief comparison of these three site TechCrunch and I'll do a summary of these characteristics.

I, like the authors of the original material, I prefer Gmail. This is because of the speed, ease of search, indexing + organization through tags.

Below is a comparison taken from the article:

Gmail Yahoo Mail Hotmail (Live)
Users 51 million 250 million 228 million
Storage 2.8 GB 1GB 2GB
Tags Yes Not Not
Integrated RSS No * Yes Not
Redirection Yes Yes (paid) Not
Pop (receiving messages) Yes Yes Not
Pop (send messages) Yes Yes Not
Search The B + B +
Speed The B + B

(*) Gmail allows the registration of feeds (RSS and Atom), but has the characteristics of a reader like Bloglines, Google Reader ...

Gmail

Gmail has a remarkable feature that is the possibility of putting tags to organize and index for searching messages. In my opinion and in the site TechCrunch , this is one of the best points of Gmail. Another point that is very good is the ability to receive messages from other accounts, or the ability to use it in outlook, eudora, etc ... interface and simple to use, without many frills. In my opinion, the best webmail.

Windows Live Hotmail

The downside is the lack of Hotmail's POP to send and receive messages. If you want to see your messages of Outlook, you can not. Otherwise, it is the slowest among the three.

Yahoo Mail

It has the same storage capacity of Gmail and Hotmail, with only 1GB. It offers an interface very easy for the user though very full of information. It is fast and integrates RSS and Yahoo Messenger. For those who use the pop yahoo.com.br for receiving and sending messages is free. For those who use yahoo.com, you must agree to receive advertising messages.

With respect to GMail is an easy to display RSS feature called "web clips" feature that few people know this, but for those who help manage their email and read feeds.

    What is the integrated RSS?
The bar is in gmail with RSS RSS is not integrated?

Remember, after it emerged that Gmail, the other took the bond.

To avoid confusion, Yahoo! Mail integrates rss, so that the feeds are presented as if they were emails, you click the "folder" and feeds it shows the items in the same style that makes Thunderbird. The "integrated rss" Gmail is not a player itself, which only shows one news. The aggregator Yahoo! Mail is an aggregator complete, showing all the feeds, with control of read and unread feeds.

The aggregator google is the best .. also reader.google.com not trade for anything!

"The downside is the lack of Hotmail's POP to send and receive messages."

POP is just to receive, SMTP is for sending. And by chance you can not set up to receive the Outlook or another client? At the time of giving old hotmail ...

Yeah, when I mean to send and receive POP I mean POP and SMTP.
About configure Hotmail in Outlook, which it can be done is to use a feature of Outlook itself that allows mail to be viewed but not "downloaded" to your computer. That is, you can use (receiving and sending messages) Outlook, but in fact they remain on the Web and not the user's computer. So you can not view them while offline, as in the case of POP.

I wanted to inform you that Gmail has integrated RSS. Best search better.

Hotmail stopped in time by not letting go get the mail through Outlook Express!!!!
Gmail lets you choose and do not charge anything!!!!

Recently, following the availability of unlimited storage on Yahoo, I created an account to back up messages from my Gmail account. It would also be a test for comparing the capabilities of both services. Yahoo's behavior was disgraceful! The volume of messages I receive in my Gmail account, inserted in Yahoo, accused 'detection of unusual behavior', which made my account stay locked for 48 hours. Conclusion: What good is unlimited storage if I can not receive more than 'a pittance' of emails a day? How can I have confidence in a service that blocks my messages for no apparent reason? Suddenly I notice that my account is locked and my important emails were not received! Gmail 1 x 0 Yahoo!
